The FOCUS Repository tables should be backed up periodically. Before making backup copies of these tables, you should make sure that all ReportCaster users are logged off the system.

Procedure: How to Backup FOCUS Repository Tables
  1. Stop the FOCUS Database Server (FDS). For more information, see Stopping and Starting the FOCUS Database Server.
  2. Create a backup of the FOCUS Repository tables.
  3. Rebuild or reorganize the FOCUS Repository tables to maintain disk space and improve performance. Although this is an optional step, it is recommended. For more information, see Repository Table Maintenance Procedures.
  4. Restart the FDS.

Note: Information Builders recommends stopping the ReportCaster Distribution Server, as resources will be used trying to poll for scheduled jobs, and any scheduled jobs still running will not complete log processing. If the ReportCaster servlets already have configuration information loaded, users can still work in the ReportCaster user interfaces. The only user interface that will not work is the ReportCaster Console, since it communicates directly with the ReportCaster Distribution Server.
